Licence / Certification

We are recruiting Vehicle Recovery Drivers for light recovery work. Whether you are already experienced in recovery or you hold a Class 1 or Class 2 licence and want to train into the role, we would like to hear from you. 80% of the work is local.

Licence / Certification

Offering an opportunity to join our current team as a Commercial Fitter. Salary dependent on experience and ability, to be agreed but set around the details below.

Role Details

  • Full time position
  • Hours: Mon – Fri 7am to 5.00pm, plus one weekend on-call / one weekend off
  • Location: various locations in Essex & Kent & London/SE
  • Minimum requirement: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, or a proven track record/experience
  • Negotiable — competitive hourly rate & hours to be agreed
  • Must have own tools and be able to work on own initiative

We are seeking experienced and reliable individuals with a passion for trucks to join our commercial team, working on our customers' vehicles as well as our own. This will suit those with a flexible approach to work.

You will be responsible for carrying out inspections, service routines and repairs, preparing vehicles for MOT, and presenting them for test. All tasks are to be performed to the highest standard.

You will have sound mechanical knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems, able to competently diagnose and repair faults in an efficient manner, recording all work on relevant documentation. Holding a Category C+E Licence is an advantage, though not essential.

You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and well under pressure, with a calm, methodical and safe approach.

Duties

  • Assemble and fit components according to specifications and engineering drawings
  • Conduct inspections of finished products to ensure quality standards are met
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any fitting issues that arise during the assembly process

Experience

  • Previous experience in a fitting role is essential, with a strong understanding of assembly techniques
  • Familiarity with flatbed vehicles and their operation is an advantage
  • A valid driving licence is required for this position
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are necessary for success in this role

Diagnosing and repairing cars and light commercial vehicles at the roadside or at a customer's location, delivering a fast and professional service.

You will need a recognised vehicle technician qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent) or proven track record/experience, a full driving licence, and your own tools.

We are looking for a multi-skilled, versatile individual who can mostly self-manage their own workload, with the capability to work on a range of vehicle types and ages, from the 1960s (or earlier) to modern day. This includes classic cars, sports and performance cars, vans, and more. Work can vary from rebuilding and setting up carburettors, engine, suspension and brake maintenance and rebuilds, vehicle inspections, welding and servicing.

Any applicant needs to be able to work on both petrol and diesel vehicles, and have good mechanical knowledge to adapt to new challenges.

Licence / Certification

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Workshop HGV Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in our workshop environment. Your expertise will ensure that all vehicles meet safety standards, operate efficiently, and comply with industry regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about mechanical work, welding, and vehicle maintenance to contribute to a fast-paced, safety-focused setting. Your hands-on skills and technical knowledge will be vital in keeping our fleet in top condition and supporting our operational goals.

Duties

  • Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify mechanical issues and safety concerns
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks including engine work, brake systems, suspension, steering components, and electrical systems
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings to guide repairs and modifications
  • Conduct pipe threading, tube bending, soldering, and assembly of components according to industry standards such as ASME codes & standards
  • Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to execute detailed work accurately
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations during workshop operations while promoting a safe working environment for all team members

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as an HGV fitter or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role within a workshop setting
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and mechanical drawings essential for accurate repairs
  • Mechanical knowledge of heavy vehicle systems such as engines, brakes, suspension, electrical wiring
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, pipe threading equipment, tube benders, soldering irons and rigging gear
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to repairs or fabrication tasks
  • Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills; able to work independently or as part of a team under tight deadlines

Shift & Requirements

Shift pattern: 4 on / 2 off — Days (0700-1900) or Nights (Fri, Sat & Sun 1900-0700)

Role Includes

  • Answering phone calls
  • Organising accident/breakdown recoveries
  • Dispatching accident and breakdown jobs to drivers
  • Dealing with customers, insurance companies and motoring organisations over the phone

No experience required. Full training given. However, applicants with previous experience will have an advantage.

Skills

You will need general computing skills, including confidence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook/Email, Windows Explorer and computer programs in general.

D&G Europe is part of the established D&G group, with over 30 years of experience across vehicle transport, recovery, and logistics. We operate across the UK and into Europe, moving cars and commercial vehicles for a range of fleet, trade, and commercial clients.

We are looking for professional, experienced multi-car drivers or experienced Class 1 HGV drivers who want to learn a new role and join our European operation.

The Role

You will be transporting vehicles, primarily cars and vans into/back from Europe, and across the UK, operating multi-car transporter equipment. This is a full-time position with regular, ongoing work. Night-out work is part of the role and is paid additionally on top of your daily rate.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Driving multi-car transporter units across the European and UK road network
  • Safe loading and unloading of vehicles, protecting the integrity of every vehicle in your care
  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and reporting any defects promptly
  • Adhering to all UK and European traffic laws, tachograph regulations, and safety requirements
  • Representing D&G Europe professionally with clients and collection/delivery contacts at all times

What You will Need

  • Valid Category CE licence (essential)
  • Valid Driver CPC card (essential)
  • Valid Digital Tachograph card (essential)
  • Minimum 1 year's proven experience driving in Europe (preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year's experience moving cars, plant, or similar (preferred)
  • Solid understanding of loading and securing vehicles safely
  • Good mechanical awareness and ability to spot and report issues
  • Strong communication skills and a professional manner with clients

Flatbed or transporter-specific qualifications are an advantage.
