Our involvement in motorsport started in the mid 80’s when a race club had seen a picture of our Chevy tow truck, they asked if we would attend their American themed race weekend at Brands Hatch in Kent. From that weekend on we regularly sent a recovery truck to the circuit for all types of racing events.

Brands Hatch continued to our “home circuit”. Every meeting was attended by us from the smallest club event to British Touring Cars which was live broadcast on TV. When the phone call from Silverstone came in 2001 asking if we can supply recovery for Formula 1 we jumped at the chance, what a fantastic opportunity to be involved the pinnacle of motorsport and we still are.

More recently we are sill attending those circuit’s as well as the annual Carfest Children In Need Charity event. Our involvement also led to two of our team being invited to the inaugural Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix in 2007 to train and work with their own staff.

We have also been involved in a project for Porsche Carrera Cup GB where the brief was to design a lifting bar so that cars in gravel traps or extensively damaged cars could be totally lifted on & off recovery vehicles.

The same idea was taken on by the British Touring Car Championship. This project however was a little harder because cars are all different models, rather than the same cars used by the Porsche teams. We tested our designs and after we were happy with it, we had it manufactured and load certified. 2017 will be the first season it is used for race weekends.

Our passion and commitment in motorsport continues over 30 years after it all began. The guys we first met back in the 80’s still work for us today and what started as a fun “day out” has turned into a section of D&G Assist that is recognised throughout the UK motorsport scene. We are very proud of it.
